Wait page
The wait page is displayed if results are not immediately returned when you request the execution of a report, document, or HTML document. The wait page contains the object name and its current execution status. When execution is complete, the results page automatically replaces the wait page.

The wait page is also displayed when results are not immediately returned for a search request.

Refresh the wait page
The wait page automatically refreshes itself at a time interval specified by your administrator. To refresh the wait page yourself, click the Check Status Again button.

During execution
The following applies to your options for action during and after report execution.

  • MicroStrategy Web supports asynchronous reporting. If your user privileges include the asynchronous execution privilege, you do not have to wait for one execution process to be finished before you perform another. For example, you can run additional reports or browse other pages while your report is executing.
  • During execution, you can click the Show Report Details link to view the report's SQL and other details before the report results are displayed.
  • To add a report, document, or HTML document to the History List, click Add to my History List on the wait page. Information regarding the execution status is then added to the History List. If you have the "View History List" user privilege, you will be able to check its status any time by accessing the History List page.

Skip the wait page when using the browser's Back button
For newer browsers (Netscape 7.x, Internet Explorer 6.x, or later versions), MicroStrategy Web provides a Dynamic HTML (DHTML) optimization on/off setting. This setting allows you to skip the wait page when using your browser's Back button if the Dynamic HTML (DHTML) optimization is turned on.

For more information about DHTML, see General under User Preferences.

Cancel execution
To cancel a report, document, or HTML document during execution, click Cancel this Request on the wait page to return to the folder from which you made the request.
