Browsing additional report results
Grid and graph reports often contain more data than can be displayed on one page at the same time. Incremental fetch is a feature that enables you to set the number of columns and rows that appear on a report page.

For more information about browsing the data within grid and graph reports, see the following:

Browsing additional grid report results
Many reports contain more result rows than can be displayed on a single page at a time. In such cases, the report page does not show the additional rows; these are displayed on succeeding incremental fetch pages.

Note: The maximum number of grid row and column results that can be displayed at one time is determined by preferences within the Grid Display page of the User Preferences. For more information, see Setting the number of rows/columns that are displayed.

To browse additional grid report results:

Do the following:

  • If a report is longer than five pages because of incremental fetch limits, each page will contain links to a set of other pages. You can use the arrows at the top of the report   to scroll from one set of five consecutive pages to the next.
  • You can use either of the page indexes located on the upper left corner or the links located at the bottom of the report to view additional rows or determine the number of pages.
  • To view a set of rows other than that displayed, click the appropriate page number. The index links above the report are on the Report toolbar, which may be hidden.

You can also browse additional graph data by performing the steps outlined in Browsing additional graph report results.

Setting the number of rows/columns that are displayed
You can adjust incremental fetch settings in the User Preferences to determine how many report rows and columns appear on one results page.

To set the number of rows and columns that appear on a report:

  1. Click Preferences at the top right corner of the page.
  2. From the left side of the Preferences page, select Grid display. The Grid display preferences are displayed.
  3. In the Maximum rows in grid field, enter the maximum number of rows you want to see on your report.
  4. In the Maximum columns in grid field, enter the maximum number of columns that you want to see on your report.
  5. Click Apply to save your changes.

Notes:

  • The incremental fetch settings are overridden by the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server setting 'Maximum number of XML cells' setting. For more information, contact your administrator.
  • The maximum number of rows or columns you can set is 9,999.

Browsing additional graph report results
When left and right arrows appear below a graph, it implies that the graph contains more information than that displayed. In such cases, you can view additional data by either changing the page index at the bottom of the graph or clicking the left or right arrows
that appear next to the graph.

Setting the number of categories/series that are displayed
You can determine the maximum number of categories and series that are displayed on a graph on one screen.

For a refresher on what categories and series represent in a graph, see Graph report layout: Categories and Series.

To adjust the maximum number of categories and series for graphs:

You can adjust the number of categories and series using the DHTML-enabled scrolling bars and sliders or using the procedure below.

  1. Open a report in Graph or Grid and Graph View. To do so, from the View menu, select Graph or Grid and Graph.
  2. From the Format menu, select Graph. The Format: Graph dialog box is displayed.
    • If DHTML is disabled: From the Format drop-down list, select Graph, and then click the Go icon. The Format: Graph panel is displayed.
  3. In the Categories field, enter a maximum number of categories.
  4. In the Series field, enter a maximum number of series.
  5. Click OK or Apply to apply your changes to the graph.

Note: These values are saved with the report definition if the report is saved.
